DONATE

We are so glad you are on this page! While we are currently donating time and resources to this project, we are looking forward to achieving sustainability through community support to continue this work.

We do not accept donations from our clients! This is a protected free service. Please do not donate if:

  • You have received services through LAPIS or any of our clinicians.

  • You plan to receive services from LAPIS or any of our clinicians in the future.

  • You are currently receiving services from any of our clinicians at another location or through another agency. This includes therapy services unrelated to trans healthcare or letters of support.

If you choose to donate, you are acknowledging that you have never received services from LAPIS or any of our clinicians and are aware that this donation will make you ineligible to receive services from LAPIS or any of our clinicians in the future. If you are unsure if this applies to you, please email us at letteraccessprojectinseattle@gmail.com to inquire before donating.

Who can donate?

Anyone who wants to support trans people accessing free services. Trans people currently need 1–2 letters of support from a licensed mental health professional to be eligible for gender-affirming surgery. Getting a letter means undergoing an assessment. Getting an assessment often means long waitlists, expensive fees, and sometimes requires ongoing therapy sessions, which are also costly. Gender affirming care is necessary, and can be life saving.

Where will my donations go?

All donations will first go to overhead costs of operation. This includes liability insurance, online PHI (Protected Health Information) software for maintaining appropriate clinical documentation, website domain fees, and SquareSpace usage fees. If donations exceed these costs, the funds will be used to pay for time spent conducting assessments at a rate of $75 per assessment. This rate is significantly lower than the typical cost of an assessment and much lower than standard mental health professional session fees.

How much should I donate?

That is entirely up to you. Any amount is deeply appreciated. Small contributions can add up quickly!

  • If you can donate $1–$15, these are the kinds of donations that can snowball into something impactful.

  • If you can donate $15–$30, you can help cover liability insurance, domain fees, or PHI software subscriptions for one month.

  • If you can donate $75, you can cover the cost of one assessment.

  • If you can donate $100, you can cover the cost of an assessment plus the administrative time needed for documentation, communication, and follow-up.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

No, they are not. LAPIS is not a registered 501(c)(3).
